WebIn the 19th century, pressure from Euroamerican culture began making native ceremonies illegal, and drove much artistic expression underground. By the mid-20th century, laws had changed, and a new medium became available to Northwest Coast artists. Printmaking created a renaissance of Northwest Coast art in the 1960s and 70s.
